About Sofía

About Sofía

At Sofia we want to change the way millions of people take care of their health by offering a health plan that is more complete, simpler to understand and closer to anyone who wants to live a healthier life. We want to build a thriving community that deeply changes the way the health system works

About the role

As a Medical Care Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the in-house medical care we provide is high-quality, empathetic, efficient, and cost-effective. To achieve this, you will lead a team of 3 to 5 direct reports and oversee a team of over 25 physicians across various specialties. You’ll leverage data and tech tools to analyze and optimize processes, make strategic decisions, and drive continuous improvement in alignment with Sofia’s mission.

What you'll do

  • Staffing and Recruitment: Forecast monthly demand, set staffing requirements, and manage the recruitment, interviews, and onboarding for new physicians.
  • Team Productivity and Quality Oversight: Drive engagement and productivity, establish scheduling rules for availability, and conduct audits with feedback to ensure high-quality care.
  • Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Set metrics to evaluate service quality, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with product and ops teams to enhance tools, workflows, and achieve target performance levels.
  • Care Delivery and Quality Assurance: Oversee and coordinate timely, effective medical care delivery, using data analysis and audits to assess and improve team performance and quality of care.

What we're looking for

  • Experience: You have at least 2 years of management experience leading a team of over 10 people.
  • Operational mindset: You enjoy tracking day-to-day activities and can make fast, effective adjustments based on observations.
  • Analytical strength: You are adept at interpreting metrics, conducting in-depth analyses, and using data insights to drive improvements.
  • Leadership and people management skills: Recruiting, motivating, and providing feedback to a large team of physicians is a key part of this role.
  • Technical skills (Nice to have!): Proficiency in GSheets, dashboards, Apps Script, chatGPT and similar tools to boost independence and effectiveness.
  • This position doesn’t require a medical degree, but a strong background in healthcare is essential.

Bonus points if:

  • You've worked at a tech startup
  • Internal medicine experience.
