About the role

As a Jr Actuarial Scientist, you will design, launch and maintain insurance products that help people take better care of their health.

This is a critical role with a wide range of technical responsibilities. Including the calculation of reserves, managing our reinsurance contract, and all regulatory responsibilities among more.

At Sofia we are doing things differently. You will be a key asset in designing new products and services for our soci@s working together with many other teams. This includes analysis of user needs, risk modeling, and implementation of systems to monitor technical performance over time.

What we're looking for

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Actuary Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related technical area
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have a solid foundation in probability and risk
  • You have strong interest in applied statistics and/or machine learning (regression, time series, probabilistic modeling, supervised and unsupervised methods)
  • You feel comfortable programming in SQL, R and/or Python, with knowledge of statistical or machine learning libraries/frameworks, and wanting to go much deeper
  • You really like to collaborate and you can communicate technical concepts in a clear and structured way
  • You are willing and eager to explore and master various actuarial concepts such as Underwriting, Reserving, Reinsurance, Actuarial Pricing, etc.

Bonus points if:

  • You have a strong sense of the value that a risk product has to its end-user
  • You understand how to manage technical provision (RRC / SONR / OPC)
  • You are passionate about the impact of technology and design on health insurance
  • You have a strong interest in automating processes and modeling using code
